Coleman is from Lancashire. Coleman was head of the class in the Arnold School, Blackpool and was awarded straight A's on her A-levels. Steven Moffat, the producer of Doctor Who confirmed in a 21st March 2012 press event that Coleman will be Matt Smith's character following the departure of Karen Gillan left. Moffat chose her due to her ability to complement Smith as well as the fact that she was able to speak more quickly than Smith. Brisbane is where she was raised. Daughter of British parents. Clemens began working on Australian television when she was still in high school. In 2006, she starred in a role as Juliet in the episode Blue Water High and in 2007, as Alison as Alison in Pirate Islands: The Lost Treasure of Fiji.
